Participation in labor unions has decreased by over 50% in the last forty years. The growth and membership in labor unions in the post war years is often cited as a significant contributor to income equity. There appears to be glimmers of a reversal in union membership in recent years. Businesses such as Starbucks, Amazon, Trader Joes and Whole Foods are amidst union organizing drives.
